Fans are essentially feminine and my research into their history has given me a fascinating insight into how fans evolved from being everyday functional objects into objects of great beauty and desire.
The fan was designed using photographs of the flowers.
I use Brick stitch so that the 'fabric' is stronger and has a firmer texture.
This fan contains 18,220 Delica beads in 124 different colours.
'Remembrance' was selected for exhibition in the Object of Desire show at the Woman Made Gallery in October and November 2008 in Chicago, IL.
'Remembrance' will be on show at the Northampton Museum from 29th August 2009 to 4th October 2009.
